DRESSED TO KILL

Kid Cann was known as a snappy dresser and a man who paid meticulous attention to his appearance. He always looked good in court, where he found himself on dozens of different occasions due to a colorful criminal lifestyle. In his forty-year career as the godfather of Minneapolis, he was arrested twenty-five times and suspected of murdering three investigative journalists: Howard Guilford of the Twin City Reporter; Arthur Kasherman, publisher of the Public Press; and Walter Liggett, editor of the Plain Talk magazine and Midwest American newspaper. All three murder cases languish in the police files, unsolved. Cann was also suspected of killing a taxi driver and two policemen—all the while enjoying close ties with government officials. Kid simply couldn’t be convicted. It seems that witnesses often forgot details of incidents for which they were testifying, or they disappeared altogether.
